Don’t miss this opportunity to present your dives and courses to the ScubaVagabonds community. Simply enable dive course bookings for your customers and use ScubaVagabonds as an additional sales channel. A short video tutorial on how to create dives and courses can be found here. Upload and share your underwater pictures

Hello Everybody,

A couple of days ago we have further enhanced the feature list of ScubaVagabonds. You are now able to upload your dive pictures to your new photo album. Share your breathtaking underwater pictures among all members of the ScubaVagabonds community or restrict the visibility to registered members or your friends or simply create your private album.

Currently only members will have one album each. For the near future we are planning to provide you with an unlimited amount of albums for uploading pictures, videos and audio files. Albums for dive schools and liveaboard operators will be available soon, too.

Navigate to your album and present your pics to the community! Check out the gallery and browse through the albums of your fellow members!

Take Part in a Guinness World Record™ Attempt

May 10, 2011 in Announcements

To launch our liveaboard booking engine ScubaClick Ltd is organizing a Guinness World Record™ attempt in the category ‘Most People Scuba Diving’ in Swanage, Dorset, United Kingdom. The event will take place on Saturday the 24th September 2011 with Sunday the 25th being reserved should the weather not be favourable on the Saturday.

Now, all we need is you! First and foremost we need divers to take part. The current record is held by the Indonesian Navy with 2.486 divers diving simultaneously in August 2009. To help with surface cover we need kayak operators as well as dive boat operators.

The primary aim of the world record attempt is to raise money for local and national charities such as:

  • Swanage Heroes Haven: a registered local charity raising money to purchase, equip and run a specially adapted log cabin for the use of disabled service personnel and their families on a local holiday park in Swanage
  • The RNLI: a charity for beach and sea safety
  • The Scuba Trust: a disabled diving charity

All divers will be asked to pay £10 to take part in the event and to raise further money through personal sponsorship. We thus hope to raise over £150,000 for charitable causes.

Please follow this link for further information on the event. Hope to see you all in Swanage celebrating the new record!

Moderation Tools

October 13, 2010 in Announcements

Hello Everybody,

on most pages and many activity items you can now find a flag link at the bottom. Clicking this link will notify both myself and Stefan that something might be wrong with this item. This gives us a chance to review the item and decide for ourselves whether we leave it as it is or remove the item.

Over the next couple weeks we will enable moderation tools for more and more content types. Once we’re done Stefan, myself and you, our users, will be able to moderate any kind of content here on ScubaVagabonds.

We also need your help in moderating content. By working together we can all help keep ScubaVagabonds clean :)

Have a nice day!

Upgrades to Events

October 12, 2010 in Announcements

Anybody who visited ScubaVagabonds in the last few minutes probably experienced some site problems. These happened due to our upgrades to Events. We have included a calendar and it is now possible for any member of an event to invite their friends. Events can now be scheduled in regular intervals and the number of attendees can be restricted. There were also some minor improvements, like search capability and sorting of events.

Head on over to our events page and check it out!

Improvements to Locations

October 10, 2010 in Announcements

Over the last few days we have noticed that in some cases the location of a dive school was not geocoded properly from the address. The reason for this was that Google did not recognize the street name and returned no information. We have now slightly changed the way this is being handled and every dive school should now show a proper Google map on their profile.

Please respond to this post should you still experience any problems with dive school locations on maps!
